There are four seasons, but only one favorite. What’s yours?

Hot, cold, rain, or snow—each season brings along its own army of nature. All are beautiful, dangerous, and pleasant in their own way. Throughout all phases, Mother Nature thrives regardless of the time of year or temperature outside, showing both resilience and, at times, ruthlessness. While we may favor one season over another, each has its own charm. If I had to rank the seasons from favorite to least favorite, here’s how I would rate them:

1. Fall

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year when it comes to weather! The season brings cozy, gloomy, rainy, breezy, and emotional days that make you want to curl up in a fluffy blanket and have a movie marathon late into the night. The changing colors of the leaves and the beauty of trees in their abscission are truly mesmerizing. Jumping into a giant pile of leaves as a kid is a core memory tied to this nostalgic season—it's a universal experience, right? Pumpkin patches, cozy window reading, falling asleep to the sound of rain and the nightfall whistle, Halloween, and, of course, pumpkin spice—shall I go on? Yes, that’s right, I’m a pumpkin spice enthusiast, but seriously, who isn’t? Anything and everything pumpkin is a godsend. Devouring it all while lounging in cozy pajamas and listening to the pitter-patter of rain falling outside is simply glorious. And let’s not forget about Thanksgiving and all the delicious food we get to enjoy then! Fall ignites so many sentimental emotions and stirs excitement for the parade of holidays to follow. I don’t just love fall; I absolutely adore it.

2. winter

Christmas is my FAVORITE holiday of all time! The lights, snow, smell of hot chocolate and festive treats, and the cheer that brings families together fill me with so much warmth and joy. Yes, I’m the person who starts decorating for Christmas on November 1st. I used to love winter more than fall, but that changed when I experienced a real winter and my fear of driving and traveling in the snow set in. It’s not so much my driving that scares me, but everyone else on the road. Despite my fear of hydroplaning, winter holds a special place in my heart. Cozy memories of holiday gatherings and closeness with loved ones fill me with sentiment. The outdoors become a wonderland for snowball fights, snow angels, and building snowmen. Christmas music is finally justifiable to play on blast 24/7, and soups are always on the menu. Peppermint mochas are everywhere, and clothes are warmer and cozier. Everything about winter is calming and beautiful, and I yearn to recapture that peaceful feeling every year when the holidays have passed and the season changes.

3. Summer

The ocean is my safe place, and I don’t think I could ever find it in my heart to move away from her, even if I tried. My heart always calls to be near the water, and whenever I’m sitting in the sand, listening to the waves crash along the shore, I can’t help but feel at peace with the world. Rain or sunshine, she is mesmerizing to look at. Summer is full of activities and never-ending events that spread joy and create new memories—concerts, iced tea and lemonade stands, long summer nights, and sun-kissed skin. At times the heat can be scorching, but that’s nothing a dip in the pool or lake can’t fix! The great outdoors is in its prime when the summer season steps into the spotlight!

4. Spring

The dewy air of an early spring morning has a way of overwhelming the senses, with blooming flowers and fresh grass bursting from the earth in vibrant colors. The air feels crisp and invigorating, filling you with a sense of motivation as the days grow longer and the sunshine returns. Spring is a beautiful time of year, perfect for resetting and preparing for the summer ahead. Personally, I love the way spring feels. As the winter chill fades and the sun shines brighter, the sky seems bluer, and the air lighter. The temperature is just right—not too hot, not too cold. Spring stirs the emotions of the seasons, blending the remnants of winter with the promise of summer, making it all the more enjoyable.

All four seasons are subject to opinion and personal bias, but in the end, I love all of them in their own unique way. Living in a place that experiences all four seasons is truly a treat! Admittedly, I do tend to grow tired of them at their extremes, but I still cherish each one and look forward to its return the following year. I think we’re all guilty of wanting the opposite of what we have at times, rather than appreciating what we’ve got in the moment—seasons are no exception. But there’s always that one season we never seem to tire of, and for me, it’s fall. And as luck would have it, fall is just around the corner. Pumpkin spice, here I come!

What is your favorite season? What do you love most about it? I would love to hear your thoughts!
